On one hand, Bridie and Birdie love their names; but on the other hand, people are always getting them mixed up.
Using Lámh signs, Gaeilge, and English, ‘Lámh, Lámh Eile’ is a fun and engaging workshop for children with additional needs and their families/carers. Led by writer and theatre-maker Alison Ní Mháirtín, participants will explore the story of St Brigid through verbal and non-verbal language, mime, visuals, and sound – and develop a group story of their own together.
No prior knowledge of Lámh signs, Gaeilge, or English is required.
Ar lámh amháin, is breá le Bridie agus Birdie a n-ainmneacha ach ar an lámh eile, bíonn siad á meascadh ag daoine. Le comharthaí Lámh, Gaeilge agus Béarla, is ceardlann spraíúil agus spéisiúil é ‘Lámh, Lámh Eile’ do pháistí a bhfuil riachtanais bhreise acu agus a tuismitheoirí/cúramóirí. Meet the artist
Alison Ní Mháirtín
Alison Ní Mháirtín is a writer and theatre-maker. She has a special interest in theatre for young audiences and multilingual work. Most recently, she has worked with Rose Producing on her first full-length play for children, ‘Pegasus the Clothes Horse’, which premiered at the National Opera House in 2024. Other recent work includes the Portuguese/English audio story ‘Todos a’. In 2023, Alison also produced, wrote, and directed a series of audio stories for children in the Irish language. Before that, Alison participated in the Mother Tongues – Language Explorers programme. Originally from Blanchardstown, she lives in Wexford with her three children.
