Indonesian Dance and Language Workshop

This workshop will be delivered in two parts, one providing a basic introduction to the Indonesian language and cultural traits, and the second offering a chance to learn the basic steps of the Tor Tor, a traditional dance of the Batak tribe from North Sumatra.
Indonesia is an archipelago of 17, 508 islands straddling the equator, and is the world’s 4th most populous country. With 300 indigenous local languages, the National language, Bahasa Indonesia, is an essential enabler of everyday communication between the different communities.

Tor Tor dance is a traditional dance of the Batak tribe in North Sumatra. It is a group dance, with dancers moving in rhythm with the music, played on traditional instruments.
Cito Murphy has been dancing and performing traditional and contemporary Indonesian dance and hip-hop since the age of 13. Her love of dance comes through in all her performances. Cito took her Masters Degree in literature from the University of North Sumatra and has been performing in Ireland since moving here in early 2017.
Cito and friends will first give a performance of the Tor Tor, following which there will be an opportunity to join in and learn the movements.

Yuki Fragariani has been in Ireland since 2008 and has had a love of languages from a young age. She studied linguistics and Japanese culture at university and taught Eglish in a number of different countries. Since arriving in Ireland she has also taught Bahasa Indonesia.
Yuki will present a beginner class in the language, together with some cultural pointers. Essential for anybody who plans to visit this vibrant and varied country for business or pleasure.


Workshop ini akan dibagi menjadi dua bagian, pertama; tentang pengenalan Bahasa Indonesia dan ciri/sifat budayanya, kedua; persembahan tari Tor Tor dan kesempatan untuk mempelajari gerak gerak dasar tarian Tor Tor yang berasal dari suku Batak, Sumatra Utara.  
Indonesia merupakan negara yg terdiri dari 17,508 kepulauan, negara ke 4 terpadat didunia dengan 300 suku dan lebih dari 700 bahasa, dengan bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa nasional.

Tari Tor Tor adalah tarian tradisional yg berasal dari suku Batak Sumatra Utara. Tarian ini biasanya dilakukan sekelompok orang dengan diiringi musik dari alat musik tradisional.
Cito Murphy adalah penari dan pencinta tari tradisional dan kontemporer Indonesia dan juga hip hop. Kecintaanya terhadap tari jelas terlihat dari setiap tarian yg dia ditampikan.
Mengantongi Master Degree dibidang literatur dari Universitas Sumatra Utara, Cito dan teman temannya akan menampilkan tari Tor Tor yang akan dilanjutkan dengan kesempatan untuk siapa saja yg ingin ikut berpartisipasi mempelajari gerak gerak dasar tari ini.

Yuki Fragariani berdomisili di Irlandia sejak tahun 2008, dan sangat mencintai bidang bahasa dari sejak anak anak. Dia menyelesaikan studi dibidang linguistik dan adat budaya Jepang, berpengalaman mengajar bahasa Inggris dibeberapa negara dan sejak tinggal di Irlandia, mengajar bahasa Indonesia sampai saat ini. 
Yuki akan memperkenalkan bahasa Indonesia dan ciri ciri/sifat budaya Indonesia yang akan sangat berguna untuk siapa saja yang mempunyai rencana untuk berkunjung, baik untuk bisnis atau berlibur.
