Mother Tongues is Ireland’s leading non-profit organisation dedicated to celebrating and promoting linguistic diversity and bilingualism through the arts. We are seeking a creative, proactive, and target-driven Communications and Marketing Consultant to join our team on a part-time basis.
Celebrating Ireland’s cultural and linguistic diversity, the Mother Tongues Festival’s mission is to curate a high-quality, multilingual arts programme that brings children, families, and artists together to share stories and cultures. Positioned as a social catalyst, the festival fosters intercultural exchange, strengthens community ties, and nurtures a powerful sense of belonging.
With inclusivity at its core, MTFest showcases the work of migrant and multilingual artists, with the majority of its multidisciplinary programme presented in languages other than English.
This role is critical in driving registrations, ticket sales and brand awareness for our flagship annual Mother Tongues Festival, which, in February 2027, will celebrate its 10th anniversary. The Consultant will be responsible for designing and executing a cohesive digital communications and promotional strategy to grow our Festival audience, maximise ticket sales and engagement for the Mother Tongues Festival 2027, under the supervision of the Festival Manager.
Allocation: The total fee for this contract is €6,000 (inclusive of VAT, if applicable), calculated at an estimated average of 7.5 hours per week over a 26-week period. Due to the nature of festival delivery, these hours will not be distributed evenly. The contractor must be flexible, as the workload will fluctuate, with a lower intensity during the initial planning months (October–December) and a significantly increased intensity and time commitment in the immediate lead-up to and during the Festival itself (February 2027). The distribution of hours will be agreed upon mutually at the start of the contract.
Please send your CV, a brief cover letter, as attachments, outlining your suitability for the role, and 2-3 examples of social media campaigns or newsletters you have managed to festival@mothertongues.ie
Closing Date for Applications: 6th September 2026
Interviews will be carried out in September 2026. The work will start in October 2026.
Since its founding in 2018, Mother Tongues Festival has been at the forefront of using the arts to help families embrace their mother tongue and strengthen their cultural and linguistic identities. By joining us, you’ll not only share your artistry but also contribute to a festival that builds connections, nurtures belonging, and celebrates the many languages and cultures that shape Ireland today.
