Have you always admired the beautiful art of Calligraphy? Are you looking to try something new? Join Evan Furlong, the principal of Dublin School of Mandarin Chinese who will be demonstrating the art of calligraphy. Evan will be running a drop-in experience session where you will learn how to write your name in Chinese. Calligraphy is not only a system of aesthetic writing expressed with brush and ink, it is also regarded as an art form. “One of the most appealing aspects of calligraphy is its meditative quality: You can reflect on yourself and feel a sense of serenity as you practice”.

Meet the facilitator
Evan Furlong
Evan Furlong holds a Masters in Education in UCD and she has been teaching Chinese Language & Culture courses to pupils of primary and post-primary schools as well as the new Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning. Evan was a member of the National Council of Curriculum and Assessment, designing the Chinese curriculum for the senior cycle. She has been supporting the Mother Tongues Festival since it’s beginning.
